The anode plays a key role in the aluminum production process.
The anode is used in the Resuscitation of aluminum while transmitting electric current. The quality of the anode has a great impact on the quality of the aluminum produced and its process. In fact, good quality anode in regenerative cells facilitates the production process and guarantees the product.
The anodizing unit in the South Aluminum Industries Complex consists of three main parts as follows:
- Raw anode production unit: The raw materials of the anode include: calcined petroleum coke (CPC), coal tar bitumen and also the remaining anodes used in the reduction unit (Bats). The raw anode unit includes: the process of granulation of solid particles, mixing of solid particles and liquid bitumen (for dough formation) and molding. During this process, a raw anode block is produced.
- Baking Plant: In the curing unit, the raw anode blocks are placed in the furnace and heated indirectly over a period of time to obtain suitable conditions for use in the reduction cell.
- Roding Plant: In the rod unit, the cooked anode block is connected to the rod. Also, cleaning, separation and crushing operations are performed on Beth, Bats and cast iron rims in this unit.
- Quality control in the production process: The quality control of the anode produced in the South Aluminum Complex does not rely solely on the quality control tests of the final product. A significant part of quality control takes place in the anode production process. Quality control of intermediate and final anodizing products includes a series of tests and inspections. Local controls (such as solid particle granulation control) and inspections (such as checking anode block cracks) are performed during the anode production process.
