Currently, the required electricity is supplied through two 400 kV lines of Assaluyeh power plant - Lamerd substation and Assaluyeh power plant - Fasa power plant.
Due to the need for uninterrupted power supply in the process of aluminum production and increasing reliability, 2 sets of 400/230 kV transformers with a capacity of 600 MVA, which is the largest integrated transformer in the country, have been used.
The construction of a dedicated power plant in the vicinity of the complex in the future is also considered in future development plans.
The project's power rectifier unit is designed to be able to supply the DC current required to produce 300,000 tons of aluminum per year and other equipment used.
The different parts of the energy unit are:
- 230 kV gas power substation (GIS): This section includes a 230 kV GIS station with 2 input lines and 7 output lines. The output lines are connected to 5 groups of rectifiers (DC power supply) and 2 transformers (AC power supply).
- Rehabilitation Hall rectifier transformer station: The rectifiers used in South Aluminum supply the DC power required by the regeneration hall to produce aluminum. Each rectifier unit can prepare 110 kA of power for use.
- Power distribution transformers in other areas: These transformers reduce the input voltage from 230 kV to 6.6 kV and transfer it to the main distribution building.
- Filter unit: The task of this unit is to eliminate harmonics and compensate for reactive power.
- Main control building: The most important parts of the main control building are: control and monitoring room, cable room, low voltage power distribution room and a battery room. The control and monitoring room includes protection and control panels for rectifiers, transformers, GIS, communication panels, operations and engineering departments. It should be noted that factory automation is one of the most advanced and up-to-date control systems in the aluminum industry, which has been designed and implemented based on objectives such as safety, ease of operation, reliability, rapid troubleshooting, product quality improvement and increased production. All equipment and machinery are connected to each other through a secure and industrial network and exchange data required for operation, repair and reporting with each other and also with central control rooms.
